Succession

Succession

Succession Definition

Succession refers to the process by which rights, titles, or positions are transmitted from one holder to another. This transmission specifically concerns the passing of rights pertaining to a particular office, status, or role, distinguishing it conceptually from inheritance, which is typically confined to the transfer of property rights.

Distinction from Inheritance

While both concepts involve the passing of assets or entitlements, succession focuses on the transfer of specific social or legal positions (such as an office or status), whereas inheritance is generally limited to the transmission of material possessions and property.
