Gender role refers to the external social expectations that a society attaches to gender and the behavioural expressions of these concepts. These roles encompass the specific ways in which gender is manifested through observable behaviours, including speech, mannerisms, posture, dress, and gesture. Conceptual Relationship with Gender Identity

Gender roles function as the external framework surrounding gender identity. While gender identity relates to an individual’s internal sense of self, gender roles represent the socially constructed expectations placed upon individuals based on their perceived gender.
