Diversification

Diversification

Diversification Definition

Diversification is the process whereby an organization originally concerned with one area of production buys stakes in other areas of production, giving rise to conglomerates.

Sociological Interest

The process holds particular interest for sociologists of the media, who have studied how certain companies have spread their interests across several areas of the media at once. Examples abound in today’s global economy, where huge international conglomerates hold a wide range of financial interests spanning many different types of business.
