Black Feminism Definition
Black feminism is a specific strand within the broader movement of feminism that centres the unique concerns, experiences, and issues faced by Black women. Proponents argue that Black women navigate a dual system of oppression; they simultaneously experience the disadvantages inherent to being women within patriarchal societies while also confronting systemic discrimination and racism directed specifically at their race. Consequently, Black women are understood as facing compounded or doubly disadvantaged positions within social structures.
